Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is convinced that enhanced communications and exchanges are instrumental in creating an affluent society overflowing with creativity and sensitive to various mindsets and values.
The Louvre - DNP Museum Lab enables visitors to discover at their leisure a work or works from the Musée du Louvre, using DNP's imaging and information technologies. This new approach to art appreciation stimulates the visitors’ imagination, allowing them to experience the diverse cultural contexts and value systems that gave rise to the works.
The project has been a resounding success far beyond our expectations and provides a new approach to establishing an enhanced form of dialog with artworks and museums.
Given the positive results of the first phase of this three-year-long project, the Musée du Louvre and DNP have agreed to extend the experience for another three years.
For the second phase, the galleries of the Musée du Louvre in Paris will become a new site for staging our offerings. We are also looking for ways to apply and extend the results of the project's developments to other museums and educational establishments in France, Japan and elsewhere. In this way, we are looking to foster lasting intercultural dialogs within our societies.
The unique Museum Lab initiative would never have been possible for DNP without the partnership of the Musée du Louvre. I would therefore like to express my deep gratitude to its President and Director, Mr. Henri Loyrette, and to all of his team.
I hope that our many loyal visitors will continue to enjoy the future offerings of the Louvre - DNP Museum Lab.
